Christs College Students Raise Money For UNICEF

Organised by the Student Leadership Team, Christ's College students have donated a minimum of £1.00 each and have raised £455.18  by wearing their own clothes to school  for Mufti Day Thursday 1st April.

They have raised the money to support children in Yemen through UNICEF, who have been affected by one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.  Due to conflict over the last three years, the country has been pushed to the brink of collapse, and children are caught up in one of the world's most complex crises, with an estimated 24 million people in need of assistance and over 4 million people displaced.

The fighting has severely damaged the infrastructure in Yemen which affects access to clean water and many hospitals and medical centres have either been damaged, destroyed or cannot afford to pay staff.  With Covid-19 making the situation worse, UNICEF needs to continue to support work improving sanitation, providing food (including life-saving therapeutic food), safe drinking water and vaccinations, (UNICEF supported 5.4 million people in response to a major cholera outbreak and vaccinated 4 million children against polio).    Millions of children are unable to go to school and they also provide school and distance learning opportunities.

Well done students for remembering our College Core Values and supporting those most in need.
