Our NPQ Training Offer

Teachers in our schools are able to access the full suite of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs). Whilst individual schools may use other providers, our preferred providers are the Education Development Trust (EDT), which we access through our partner GLF, and the The Church of England and Catholic Education Service.

Both provide a mix of virtual learning and face-to-face sessions, as well as self-study. Face-to-face sessions for GLF (four sessions for the NPQSL, for example) take place in a West Sussex school. The Church of England has not specified location.

The DfE has confirmed that ALL NPQs will be free for the coming year for all state-funded schools, without limit as to numbers per school. From autumn 2022 settings with up to 600 pupils will be paid £200 for each teacher or leader they employ who takes an NPQ.

NPQ in Early Years Leadership* (NPQEYL) (new)
NPQ in Leading Literacy (NPQLL) (new)
NPQ in Leading Behaviour and Culture (NPQLBC)
NPQ Leading Teacher Development (NPQLTD)
NPQ in Leading Teaching (NPQLT)
NPQ Senior Leadership (NPQSL)
NPQ Headship (NPQH)
NPQ in Executive Leadership (NPQEL)

*for all leaders in early years settings, qualified to at least Level 3 who are, or are aspiring to be, managers of Private, Voluntary and Independent nurseries, headteachers of school-based or maintained nurseries, or childminders with leadership responsibilities.

The Church of England also offers The Early Headship Coaching Offer for New Headteachers (formerly known as the ASO), which is a targeted package of support for Headteachers in their first five years of Headship. This is fully funded for all eligible participants who have either completed an NPQH before taking up their first headship post or are currently taking the NPQH.

Please read the offers from both providers on their websites. Application dates and the length of programme varies between providers. There are normally two cohorts per year, with application deadlines around September and January.
