Middle Leadership Training

Over the last few Wednesday twilight sessions, we have been working with a keen group of Middle Leaders from across out Trust, on the development of their role. The sessions have been well received by our leaders.

In our final session, we focussed on securing effective team performance.

We determined that continuous professional development is one of the key tools in managing our teams effectively and must be sustainable - quick fixes rarely work and can be detrimental. The seriousness of our training will be measured by the impact of our follow-up.

Finally, we tackled the tricky subject of having difficult conversations, in order to improve the performance of our team and outcomes for children. We took these through seven strands:

1. Setting the tone

2. Preparation

3. Setting and timing

4. Clarity and language

5. Dealing with emotions

6. Seeking agreement

7. After the meeting
