Thoughts from the CEO

This week I have been assisting Christ’s College with the appointment of a Vice Principal and I share the following points with you which we might see as an expression of our Christian values – Love, Share, Journey, Steward and Serve. I am sure you can make the links to the values for yourself…

Do we acknowledge and get back to all applicants both before and after the interview? Do we thank all candidates for the time and energy they have put into the process and sharing of themselves?

Do we put people at their ease and show empathy during the process?

Do we see the interview as a two way process around relationships as well as skills and best fit with our ethos?

Do we seek feedback from candidates on the process itself?

I am convinced this is exactly what we have just done at Christ’s College and we have not only been able to appoint an excellent candidate we have also sent a message out into the wider community about who we are and how we are.

It’s worth a thought – we can be rigorous and professional and loving… John 13:35 ‘By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.’
